COLD CASE

"Sorry?" Sorry doesn't cut it, it's only your first day and you're almost late!
Um. Am I interrupting something. Vincent yells at the waiter, tearing into him as the red-haired man nervously looks away, clearly flustered. At the sound of Allen's voice, both men look up at the entering guest. Oh. It's you. Uh, I thought we weren't supposed to be serving customers yet? I'm just here to pick up my food. But we don't do to-go? We don't have the boxes for it- I bring my own box. Who even is this guy? You'll have to excuse him, Allen. He's new. I'll go get your order, hand me the box. Allen hands Vincent the box, and the chef disappears to the kitchen. ... ... ... ...Do you have a staring problem? Oh- Uh, sorry! So uh, what's your name? (..Too chatty. But if he's going to be working here as a waiter, I should probably say something to avoid awkward situations in the future.) ..Allen. And you are? Rody! I'm the new waiter here, Really. I thought you were wearing that get-up for shits and giggles. Are you being.. Nevermind. So, are you friends with Chef or- ... (Woah, he looks pissed..!) I am NOT friends with that- He makes me food. I eat the food. That is all. Well, I meant like.. he seems to give you special treatment? Customers aren't even supposed to be coming in yet, and from what I remember we don't do to-go or do orders ahead of time. Or maybe he.. Or maybe I.. what? EEK! I'll have you ring him up, Rody. I trust you know how to use a cash register? Leaving the box of food on the counter, Vincent steps back inside the kitchen for a moment. Rody and Allen move to the register, and the waiter begins to ring him up. Alright, so here's your total.. Sure. Here. Alright, lemme give you your change, and.. Don't bother. Keep the rest as a tip, split it between you and the cooks in the back. Don't give any of it to Vincent, though. W-Wait, but you gave me a lot... What, can't do basic division? No, but that's a bit much for a tip don't you think? That would be about €100 each for the cooks and I! ... Okay? Don't bother trying to understand his logic. Just take the money, Rody. CAN YOU PLEASE STOP SUDDENLY SHOWING UP BEHIND ME?! This guy throws his money at anything except me. ..Well, okay then. Here's your order then, sir. And thank you for the tip! (Manon's gonna be so happy, maybe I can quit within the week if this keeps up!) ..Sure. No problem.. (He's so happy..) Wait. Here, I almost forgot the dessert, but I'm sure you'll eat it as you leave. Vincent hands a plate to Rody. The waiter clumsily tries to hand both to Allen at the same time. (Oh shit, the dessert is gonna slide off the plate..!) ...! Allen reaches out and grasps the box and plate, preventing them from falling. S-Sorry! Haha, that would've been a disaster if I dropped it! Haha! ..Right. Well. I have to go to work now. I'll be back later, though. Goodbye. The man leaves, Vincent and Rody left standing in the restaurant. I better not see you almost drop the other dishes you serve when we open. You weren't even walking to a table or anything, both of you were standing perfectly still. Y-Yes Chef.. Who was that guy anyway? Was he a friend of yours, a VIP..? His name was Allen, Friends? No, more like.. acquaintances? We're not as close as you think. I'm just doing a favor, that's all. He'll be here every other morning to pick up food, and sometimes in the evenings. Just ring him up like any other customer. He seems to like you, a bit surprising since he tends to avoid others. R-Really? How could you tell? ... We'll be opening soon. If you have time to ask questions, you have time for more training. Come on. ...Right.
